This program was developed at the request of the Idaho Health Care Association to meet a need for a training program in Idaho that meets the requirements of the Idaho Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing (IDOPL). IDOPL requires that a person who wants to be an administrator in a skilled nursing facility must do the following:

  1. Complete a training program approved by IDOPL.
  2. Complete six (6) months as an Administrator in Training (AIT) at a skilled nursing facility, with a trained administrator who serves as a Preceptor.
  3. Take the national examination. The national examination is offered by the National Association of Boards of Examiners of Long Term Care Administrators (NAB).

The purpose of this educational program is to combine the already approved AIT training with a didactic program that meets IDOPL approval. Candidates for the administrator license will not have to leave Idaho for the didactic training.
